Joanne Butler recently received her PhD in Sociology
from the University of Saskatchewan and is currently
a Post-doctoral Fellow with the Equity and Technology
Research Project at Acadia University, Department of
Sociology. Her research centres on education, work,
and community economic development in the context of
globalization. She is currently Project Coordinator
for the Saskatchewan Community Schools Data Collection
Initiative funded through Saskatchewan Learning. Since
1998, she has been a sessional lecturer with the Department
of Sociology (U of S, STM College, and Extension) in
the areas of education, economy & society, class
theory, and critical issues in Canadian society. She
is a member of the Work and Learning Network (University
of Alberta), the Rural Sociological Society (RSS), and
the Canadian Sociology & Anthropology Association
(CSAA).
