Senior Lecturer in North American Politics at the University
of Sussex., Annis has recently been appointed to become
Director of the Centre of Canadian Studies at the University
of Edinburgh. Dr Timpson has had an active research
interest in the governance of Nunavut for the past five
years with a particular focus on the development of
intergovernmental relations, the creation of a population-reflective
public service and the initiation of an official languages
policy for Nunavut. Her work on intergovernmental relations
will be published shortly in Canada: The State of the
Federation 2003 - Reconfiguring Aboriginal-State Relations
ed. Michael Murphy (McGill-Queens). Annis May Timpson’s
previous publications include Driven Apart: Women’s
Employment Equality and Child Care in Canadian Public
Policy (UBC Press, 2001) and Political Culture in Contemporary
Britain (Clarendon Press, 1996.
