Exploring systems of linear equations

with Geometer's Sketchpad

Technology has transformed the way we look at mathematics.  Working with linear equations was once a matter of extensive algebraic manipulation, or painstaking drawing of accurate graphs.  Now a graphing calculator can produce the graph and allow numerical investigations of graphs in seconds.

A limitation of the graphing calculator comes when exploring situations where modifying the equations to find a solution is a useful problem solving strategy.  This web site presents a teaching activity using Geometer's Sketchpad to explore such a situation.
