English 1413 Collaborative Project

This project will give you the opportunity to work together in groups of four or five, thereby using each other as resources, as editors, and as evaluators.Since you are being graded on your participation in the group as well as on the final product, please be sure to attend these classes well prepared.Each group will write a brief response (about 500 words or two paragraphs) to ONE of poems listed below.Decide what you think the main idea of the poem is, and then discuss the ways in which the poetic language has led you to this reading of the poem.PLEASE BRING YOUR LAPTOPS TO BOTH GROUP SESSIONS.

The poems are in the anthology.Please read them all and let me know by email any time or in class on Monday 23 September the poem on which you would like to work.This is first come first serve and we will limit the groups to four or five people.I will arbitrarily assign you to a group if I have not heard from you by the end of class on Monday. 

Wednesday 25 September: Choose a group leader for today. We will spend this class drafting the response to the poem.At the end of the class, the group leader will need to place the draft in Plato for safekeeping.

Monday 30 September: Choose a new group leader and finalize your response.It will need to be completed and in Plato by class time on Wednesday 2 October.
