The Politics of Deep Diversity and Digital Designs in Canada, by C. Alexander.

"When I was a little boy, I remember some people come to our outpost camp from Naujaat-Repulse Bay, to get some dog food, from my father.  My father would say, "take what you need, there must be lots more of it, from the land".  My parents were generous people, as most Inuit were.  They gave everything they got.  "You can use my qamutiik(sled).  Or you can use my outboard motor".  This is how we wanted the Government of Nunavut to be, when we were first talking about Nunavut in the l970's and in l998, under the leadership of Interim Commissioner Jack Anawak.  "This is your Government.  You can help run it, you can participate in it, you can work with it."  But, that dream is not the same today, as it was in l971 or l998.   We need to do things in Nunavut, more Inuit way.  Share, cooperate, talk, discuss, pay closer attention to the needy, the hungry, introduce more healthy communities, leave no one out of anything, that is the way we did it for six thousand years, we can do it for the next six thousand years, we just need to work as a team, with honesty, trust and determination." -- Peter Irniq
