Description:
This course, which is a continuation
of FRAN 1113, is intended for students who have had some exposure to French but
have not completed Grade 12 French or its equivalent. The aim of the course is to enhance your ability to communicate
in French, both orally and in writing, through the study of vocabulary, the
review of basic grammar and the development of comprehension skills. Emphasis will be placed on the use of French
in everyday situations. There will be
regular written work and students will also be expected to complete a series of
listening comprehension exercises, in their own time, using a programme
available in ACME. This component is
a required part of the course and will be tested. Marks will also be given for class attendance and
participation.
Use of

technology:
Class information,
including details about pre-class preparation and assignments, will be posted
on ACME where students will also have regular homework on-line. In the classroom, the instructor will use
electronic resources to present the material for study and assimilation. If desired by the students, the in-class
presentations will be made available on ACME Notes. Early on in the course, students will be shown how to download to
their own computer an interactive verb conjugator to help them master the verb
forms studied in this course.
Additional material, such as interactive crossword puzzles, will be made
available for extra language practice.
