Potential Tools for Physical Activity & Exercise Support
Your answers will help guide us as we enter the next phase of the Diabetes Physical Activity and Exercise Toolkit in the spring of 2011. Please base your responses on what you would like to see in the future.
Please answer the following questions regarding enhanced resources for physical activity and exercise at your diabetes centre:
Would you be interested in an update workshop for further training in physical activity and exercise prescription and counseling (2-3 hours; practice new counseling techniques, dumbbell program exercises from brochure #5, recent advances in exercise prescription)?
Yes No
Would a “train-the-trainer” workshop on resistance band exercises aimed at identifying and training exemplary patients as exercise champions be useful? Modeled after the Your Way to Wellness program, persons with diabetes could organize and offer sessions in the community setting specific to resistance band training.
Please answer the following questions on how often you see yourself using the following resources:

Scheduled online information sessions, such as Webinars or possibly a Telehealth, to communicate with other Diabetes Centres and inquire about how they have successfully implemented physical activity in their practices, as well as receive information on recent advances in exercise counseling and prescription.
Resistance band and dumbbell follow-along DVD:
A DVD to give to patients so they can follow along with the exercises found in Brochures #3 and #5 (i.e. runs in real time for 12 repetitions of each exercise).
