Victor Tootoo
Victor was born in Edmonton, Alberta and has lived in
every province and territory in Canada except BC, Yukon and the
Maritimes. He currently lives in Iqaluit, where he is an active
volunteer, including past president of the Iqaluit 2002 Arctic Winter
Games Host Society and avid sports enthusiast. He has four children;
Anthony Mercredi, who lives in Iqaluit with him, Savannah Pilakapsi,
Christine Tootoo, and Donovan Gordon-Tootoo all of whom live in Rankin
Inlet.
He has done a variety of jobs prior to obtaining his
Business Administration Diploma from Algonquin Community College in
Brandon, MB. They include: Bartender, Cargo handler, Trapper, Guide,
Mine worker, Cook, Postal worker, among many others.
Since receiving his diploma he has worked with Keewatin
Tribal Council in Northern Manitoba, the Government of the Northwest
Territories, Nunavut Tunngavik Incorporated, and the Nunavut Government
as ADM in Finance and Health and Social Services. He is currently in the
6th level of the CGA program requiring one more course to complete his
academic requirements.
