Marking Scheme::
Composed of three parts. All
three parts must be passed to achieve a pass in the course. Here are
your current marks.
Theory (40%):
- Midterm Exam (20%): A midterm
examination will cover all material up to that point in time. The
questions will be a mixture of full answer, multiple choice, matching
and True/False type of questions.
- Final Exam (20%): The final
examination will be held on the date specified by the registrar. It
will cover all material since the midterm exam. The questions will be a
mixture of full answer, multiple choice, matching and True/False type
of questions. The student should be aware that certain questions may
naturally require an understanding of material covered prior to the
midterm.
Case
Study Assignments (40%) :
- Marks will be based on the accuracy and quality of the
case study deliverables and the system analysis and design process
employed.

- Each team will
be responsible for creating a quiz of 7 questions (plus solutions)
covering the key material for one of the day's classes.
Please refer to the textbook for lots of help in this area. This
activity can be used to gain bonus points to make up for poorly done
assignments.
- In addition, each team will be required to delivery one
presentation in class covering either a correct solution to one of the
case study assignments or a brief presentation on a related SAD topic.
Individual
(20%) :
- Your
involvement in class is very important - your absence and/or lack of
contribution will be noticed. Read the material in advance, ask
questions in class .. Get involved!
- Each team will
be responsible for prepare a quiz (plus solutions) of up to 7 questions
covering the key material for that days class. This quiz will be
given at the beginning of class to encourage all to come prepared for
the class. The quizzes may contain short
answer, fill-in-the-blank, true/false, multiple choice and matching
type questions.
- The
responsible team will lead the class in a review of the correct answers
in class.
- The
remainder of class will be spent reviewing the highlights of the
material, clarifying difficult sections and doing examples.
- Your
performance on individual quiz results will be worth 15% of your course
mark.
- The
remaining 5% of the individual mark will be based on
general class and tutorial participation and any additional homework
that might be assigned.
