Word - Sections
Sections Breaks
Sections are used in Word to divide
your document into different areas so different types of page
formatting can be implemented. You need to understand sections
if you want to: work with columns, change page orientation, modify
margins, add headers/footers or use page numbering.

Columns
Word lets you divide any section
into a number of text columns. Columns are defined using
continuous section breaks and column breaks.

Headers and Footers
Headers and Footers can be placed in
any section and will display text, page numbers, watermarks etc..
It is critical to turn off the 'same as previous' feature if you do
not want the contents of the header or footer appearing on every
page of your document.

Page Numbers
In Word page numbers are placed in
Headers and Footer which are attached to sections. To have
page numbers display properly you must first set up a section (next
page section break) and modify the header or footer you want the
page numbers to go in.
