Files - Organizing
Making Folders
Keeping your files organized is very
important. The best way to keep things in order is to create
new folders for different things. Making a new folder
is very easy but be sure to pay close attention to the name that
you give the folder so that it does not cause confusion. Always
give it a name that is relevant to its contents and possibly the
year as well. Having to spend time looking for certain documents
or files should no longer be a problem. One way to begin file
management is to make different folders for each of your classes.

Saving Files & Folders
Saving your progress on a document
is very important in case the computer crashes. To save simply click
on the little save icon near the top of the screen. There
are a number of programs that have an 'auto save' feature, this
saves your work automatically every few minutes, but you should
still save your work frequently just to be sure.

Deleting Files & Folders
When you are done with a file and
feel that you will no longer need it, you can free up some space by
deleting it. Deleting files that you no longer need will help keep
things running smoothly. To delete a file, select the file and
press the 'delete' key on your keyboard. Another way to delete a
file is to right click on the file, and select 'delete' from the
menu.
Remember: when you delete a file, it
is not completely gone until you empty the Recycle Bin.

The Recycle Bin
When you delete a file, it is sent
to the Recycle Bin located on your desktop. These files will remain
in your recycle bin until you empty it. This is a great feature, if
you accidentally delete a file or folder, it can be retrieved. You
should empty your recycle bin from time to time in order to clear up
some room on your hard drive
